Spot and Rotation

3 man crew

Situation: L and T are table side. Turnover in the paint by Team A, Team B starts transition, B1 gets fouled at 3 point line dead center of the arc. C whistles foul, new T is still table side.

Where's the ball spotted for the throw-in?
Whats the correct transition here in HS?

I have good reference material if the foul happens on C's side of the court, but nothing when C calls it middle of the court. One could probably argue that C shouldn't have been calling it, but whats done is done. If FT's were going to be shot, C would go table side and be new T. T to C and L to L.

Who calls the foul doesn't matter -- the location of the foul does. If it was in the circle, take it back to the endline. If it was out, go to one the closest sideline. You need to decide which it was (and if you don't expect a press, it doesn't matter as much).

Who goes where depends on what you do with "long switches." Here, the old L/new T would administer the throwin and the C and oldT/new L would remain on their respective sides of the court moving to the appropriate spot depending on which side old L/new T went to. (That would be easier in a picture.)

Primary coverage.

If you at diagram 3-18 primary coverage in the frontcourt in the officials manual if the c made the call at the top of three point arc you might say he was fishing in the trails pond. But you said they were in transition and the c made have been futher up the floor than t and a good look at the foul and rightfully called it. As said before it doesn't matter who called it. Also agree inside circle spot at endline. Otherwise closet sideline to foul.diagram 2.5 officials manual.

If the C calls it at the top of the key, I would be inclined to bring the ball to his sideline. He reports, becomes the new L, T moves over.

Nothing wrong with the C making this call. The reason he's back there is to help the T. Normally here, the C would have anything FT lien to FT line in transistion.
