Any thoughts on the positioning on the play (and I guess the foul call though I think it's pretty clear and obvious)? |
Good call and not sure how the Center saw this. If the Lead had this I would be OK with that call too. But the defender was all across the arms. Good call.

Agree with Rut, it was a foul but don't know how the C saw it.

Good call. Sometimes I just remember that these guys really are fantastic basketball officials, despite the elements of the NBA game that drives purists mad.

I have no idea what NBA mechanics call for here, so I'm not ctritiquing this official or the crew by any means, but I would like the L to move to closedown with the cutter and his defender as they go away (as the ball is moving that way, too), and then, if not rotating across, at least pinching to give a look at this kind of frontside play/contact as it gets near the basket. I think this is an example of how some officials, in my experience, take the concept of locking down to a potentially negative extreme, rather than going where they need to go to 1) get the best look at a play and 2) put the crew in the best position to officiate all things and the play.
