Pass-crash block vid request

Can someone post the play from the TCU W. Virginia game at the 6:20 mark of the second half.

Discussion for after thoughts on the call I would like to hear would be: 1) Who usually has this call in 2 or 3 man (ie who has the pass and who should be watching the crash?) and 2) how do you pregame it?

2 Man Mechanic - Lead takes the pass, Trail takes the crash. The caveat is if the pass goes towards the lead.

3 Man Mechanic - Pass out to T or C, they take it and the other 2 stay with the crash. I believe if the pass stays in the lane, lead takes pass other two can help with crash.

I am sure there are lots of opinions on this - kind of like most guys my area say, "lets have the lead take the first crack at anything coming to them."
The NFHS officials manual states differently.

A better way to say that is that each official take the half of the player closer to them.

PC foul all the way.

PC foul.

Although I can see a lot of guys going with the default traveling violation on this play, even though no travel happened.

This call is a good one to use to explain what the defense did wrong to be charged with a block.

In my mind, nothing. Charge all the way. I think PC was given up before the contact.

Not so fast (just playing DA here)....

What rule does the defender have to meet?

At the time the defender established position (two feet down in the path) did the opponent have the ball or not? It matters. If so, no time/distance requirements. If not, time/distance are required.

In the end, I think the defender got the position just before the opponent passed the ball....so I have a charge. But, if the pass had been made a moment sooner, it would have been a block since time and distance would not have been met on a player without the ball.

The more I look at the play, I think this is a team control foul. This is not a shooter and certainly did not go airborne to shoot. Looks like the ball is away before the contact on a pass. I was first thinking the ball was knocked away by the contact.

Peace
