Which could be said about many rules, and interpretations, in the book

First, and foremost, you have to know the rules as well as you know the back of your hand. Rule knowledge is always important. Always. Then you have to learn how to apply the rules, with intent and purpose, to a real game situation.

Wait a minute? That freckle wasn't on the back of my hand yesterday. Was it?

If anybody asks you, "His hand was open."

I think there may be a time and a place for it...but I've yet to see it.

I suppose it could be appropriate if one player had the ball wrapped up and the opponent tried to punch it out. I don't think the rules makers want players going in with fists due to the possibility of punching the opponent instead of the ball. It seems more like a safety type of rule...not that much different then the swinging elbows rules.

I've seen it called and have called it myself.

It was obvious both times. That's when you call it.

This is one time I could see calling it. I almost had it once, a long time ago, but she nailed her opponent in the chest instead. In hindsight, I should have gone with an intentional foul instead of a common foul.
