St. Johns v. Villanova: Dead Ball Contact Technical Foul

Was asked to post this play for discussion:

FF1 is for personal fouls only.

The ball was dead (after a made basket and not at the disposal of thrower-in) so the title of the thread correctly describes the offense.

Of course you're right. This contact rises to the level of an F1 had the ball been live? Sounds right to me.

Nothing but a Technical Foul. I did not think that was even in question.

Peace

Good job by the old L in getting that, even though it looks like he wasn't looking at the play when it happened.

Thanks for posting.

I watched this play live and saw the crew discuss the play. Unfortunately the crew decided to inbound the ball at the endline closest to where the foul occurred (which the clip doesn't show). With a DBTF, the ball should've been put in play at the division line.

You forgot the "C" for "Contact".

Perfect example of a dead-ball (ball entered hoop but not yet at the disposal of the throw-in team) contact technical foul.

And other posters are correct that the ball should be put in play at the division line.
