Last week I attended the Time-Out Referee School hosted by Donnee Gray at American University in Washington DC. This is a great camp, very informative and also a lot of fun. The staff was excellent, Donnee did a lot of lecturing as well as observing floor work. Reggie Greenwood, Lou Grillo (NBA), Kenny Clark lectured and observed. They are very easy-going and approachable. There were a lot of supervisors there, who also gave a lot of their time. I gained a lot of knowledge from this camp. I would highly reccommend it to anyone. I will be attending again next year!

Wish I had known about this one - I'm in the area over the summer.
Any details you can give us? Cost? Length? Website? |
Mark
The website is: http://www.macboa.org Cost is $300 if you commute or $425 if you stay in the dorms. This year the camp ran from 10-13 July. The camp is in conjunction with the DC Board games and they are all the top-notch high school teams, i.e: Friendly, St. Johns, Riverdale Baptist, Gonzaga, plus many more. I don't know if you know this but, Donnee is the supervisor of officials for Maryland Jr. Colleges. This is truly a great camp. Are you doing any officiating while your in the area? If so, who are you working for. I am a member of IAABO 134. |
Brian,
Did Lou Grillo do his speech on traveling???? |
Bobby, for those of us who haven't had the chance to hear Lou, can you give us a synopsis of the traveling speech?
|
He didn't do the travelling, his main focus this year was on "refereeing the paint". He said if you can referee the paint, that will pay your mortgage. He said officials are like roofers. If one roofer isn't doing the job, hire one who can. He is a funny guy!
