Asst. Coaches are "bench personnel" so see 10-4-4

Also check your local listings as to how "technical" you want to be about this restriction as well. Usually you can quietly tell a coach that they cannot sit, but do not be surprised if there is some blow back.

I was working a Boys JV game and the Varsity Boys Coach was sitting at the scorers table. There were at least 2 times he stood up and coached/directed players. I believe he also verbally disagreed with one of our decisions. So, I was right in front of the scorers table the 2nd time he rose to coach players. I quickly informed him that if he was to be at the table he had to be impartial and could now stand, nor coach. He objected. I again directed that his actions were not allowed. He would need to either sit at the teams beach or sit in the stands. And if he is on the bench he is also not allowed to stand and coach. Only the Head Coach has that privileged. He was not happy with me. Did I say this was the Home Team? Oh well.....

1. Was he there from the start of the game?
2. Were you aware he was the V head coach the entire time?
3. Was he serving as the scorer or timer?

I don't see why #2 is relevant.

He was not there at the beginning of the game. He had no need being at the table.
He just thought he was 'Special'.:D

I wasn't asking in reference to the rules. I'm well aware the rules still apply. I was asking to find out what Zoochy knew and when he knew it to see what, if any, effect any of those things may have had on his reaction.

What I was getting at is...since he appeared there after the game started was there any chance for you to mention he didn't really need to be there...in a "nice" way, of course :)? 99% of the time I don't have an adult as a table official for my H.S. games so I try to get them away sooner rather than later. They just end up confusing life for the kids, let alone my partner and me. If the guy doesn't want to go then I'll go to the head coach and tell him the guy needs to move (NYC publics are specific about only the scorers and timer(s) at the table).

I got lit up by my evaluator on something similar to this situation. While he wasn't coaching from the scorer's table, the varsity coach was on the visitor's book for the JV game. He had a discrepancy about the score at the half and was making a stink. Turns out he was right but my evaluator didn't like that I was letting him be there. I learned a lot about practical applications that night. Yes, the coach was right about the score, but the way he went about it was wrong and I was responsible for that. Ech! But it happened with my training wheels on and now it's one more silver bullet in my bandolier...

How did he go about it?

Normally have the opposite problem of standing when not appropriate.
