What is in the bag?

I am here trying to get ready for my Christmas Tournaments and thinking about all the stuff I have to put in the bag.

OK guys let us have a little fun, what do you put in your bag? How many shirts? How many pants? What undergarments? Hair products? Any IcyHot? Sock? Orthotics?

Basically I just want to know what you put in your bag and what you cannot live without if you forgot that item in your bag?

Peace

I carry most of the usual stuff everyone else has listed plus I carry around a few past evaluations and a list of things that I need to work on. I review them for a few minutes prior to my partner arriving and have a goal or two that I want to work on.

No, you are not. :)

I forgot to mention the unmentionables.

I did have to work a ms game in white socks this year. Now I have spare compression shorts, socks, and undershirts.

HawkeyeCubP Sun Dec 23, 2012 11:43pm

Only things I don't see listed already are:

1 Snickers bar (I eat anywhere from a single bite to the whole thing between 1 hour to 45 minutes before tip)

1 Gatorade small pregame drink thing (30 minutes before tip)

1 Gatorade post game drink thing

1 tall bottle of Smart Water

1 small can of Static Guard

1 plastic hanger

1 stretchy resistance band with handles

2 neoprene thigh compression sleeves (for the hamstrings)

RookieDude Mon Dec 24, 2012 03:49am

My P the other night had more Under Armor on than an early Ravens Team on a commercial! Never saw that before. But hey, whatever works best for you......

lol...I've been wearing it for years. I know quite a few guys that use it...also, if you have to share a locker room with gals...its not so bad to get caught with your pants down. ;)

Indianaref Mon Dec 24, 2012 09:45am

I always have two bags in my car, I can always run out to car to get something out of other bag if need be... each bag contains:

One pair shoes
One Jacket
One Cliff Keen shirt (recommended by JRut himself)
One pair pants
Towel
socks
black tights
static guard spray
foot spray for shoes
toilitry bag with regular stuff in it

tomegun Mon Dec 24, 2012 09:55am

I don't carry things that are much different than others, but less of it. For instance, no need for any hair products. :D

I like to wear compression sleeves on my calfs more than tights although I am glad I had them both this weekend - the court I was working on had ice under it and it was freezing. When the teams went back in before the game I would have preferred to keep my jacket on.

The official working the game before mine on Saturday (and my JUCO assigner) wears some tights that are supposed to work really well. They are kind of hard to explain, but part of them is the normal material and part of them is a different material that doesn't stretch. I have heard they work really well, but...they cost $150.

Good man! Support the local economy! :D

I travel rather light, compartively speaking:
*One pair of shoes (New Balance, of course)
*Two pairs of pants
*Black compression shorts
*UA black undershirt
*Two gray IAABO shirts (our state doesn't do black and white)
*Five black whistles, one pink, a few lanyards
*Rule/case book, pre-game card
*Towel and body/hair wash (unless it's a MS gym with no shower)
*Mio Energy Green Thunder (postgame)
*Bottle of water (though most schools provide)

They were nice enough to donate millions to the old alma mater, guess I can give them some love by buying their shoes....

That is precisely why I solely (pun intended) buy New Balance now.

If only the teams could give NB a return on investment in the win column.

I used to buy only Dexter shoes for the very same reason.

All the usual stuff, plus baby powder and a big bottle of ibuprophen -- the greatest aid to middle-aged officials since the Fox 40 made us sound like we are capable of expelling a lungful of air in the second half.

My favorite mints are cinnamon Breath Savers. Can't find them anywhere. I always take the court with a Life Savers in my mouth and about 4-5 in my back pocket. Many times I get back to the locker room after the game not having had any of them, but some games I run out in the fourth quarter.

That said, I got a $75 gift certificate from Amazon from my wife yesterday and she told me to buy something "frivolous."

So I just bought a case of 48 rolls of these mints from Amazon for $39. I think this qualifies as frivolous.

Bad Zebra Wed Dec 26, 2012 11:21am

In addition to all the above...

-A travel size bottle of Germ X or Purell

Applied pre-game, halftime and post. Think of all the hands the ball is touched by (including yours)...plus the fact your hands touch a piece of plastic that is put in your mouth repeatedly. Even more emphasis as we get into January and flu season ramps up.

Good call. I really like the Cinnamon ones too. The only place I can find them is a tiny little mom n pop quick shop near my house.

QT has the wintergreen and peppermint in single rolls, which are becoming more and more difficult to find. Most stores only offer them in a multi roll pack.....now why didn't I ask for a bunch of those for Christmas???

Well done. I'm a big fan of frivolous spending, as my wife (and my gear bag) can attest to.

I use water and soap for that....it works very well and is widely available in most areas.

Not to harp on these mints, I just found out that Hershey's has discontinued the cinnamon. Better stock up now while the product is still fresh (and available).

How dare you abuse the masseuse that way. No bags for mine. They get to travel in comfort....in a box!!
