SamIAm Interesting officiating article by Seth Davis of SI.Com - Block or charge calls, top players on bad teams, more college hoops - College Basketball - Seth Davis - SI.com
Camron Rust Good article and video quiz. Watch the video, make your calls, then go to the bottom of page 2 on the article for John Adams' ruling on the plays. 10 for 10 here. 😀

twocentsworth 8 out of 10. btw...I'm sure that John Adams is glad his tournament-selected officials got most of them wrong and displayed "proper" mechanics....(he typed w/ extreme sarcasm)....🙂
Camron Rust DLH17 wroteI agreed with Seth on all but 6, 7 and 10. You're not disagreeing with Seth but John Adams. Seth only put the information into the article. You might want to review the plays again knowing who's opinion it really is that you're disagreeing with.
trojans2545 9/10, going off first look, no replays 10/10 (changed my answer to number 6 only) when using the replays as well So I'm giving it a 9/10, I'm happy with that 🙂

Changed number 10 to block looking at the second angle. He was definately leaning left after the shooter left the ground. I love the comments after the article too. "He wasn't set!!" Please!!!
egj13 Missed #2 and #8...obvious once I read the reasoning. Next time I call a block or charge and the coach disagrees I am going to tell him I scored 80% on John Adams' test so odds are in my favor that I got this one right also! 😀
Scuba_ref Does anyone know how to pull the video out to watch it offline? I would like to show this at an association meeting but we don't have internet available to us at the location. Thanks

JeroenB Very nice test, thanks for posting! Got 8/10 on first try. Had a block on play 5, but seems like a pretty obvious charge in hindsight. Had a charge on play 9, didn't see much of a block/charge situation here, more of verticality issue, but I understand why now.

Scuba_ref I was able to pull it off with my home pc. I have real player on my home pc and when I played the video from home I was given the option to download the video using the Real Player Downloader!
ballgame99 9/10 I missed #7 (Kentucky/Kansas). The amount of forward movement by the defender is minor compared to the forward movement of the offensive player. I see the block on third watch, but live that would be a tough one to call.
JugglingReferee 9 / 10. Missed play 10. I hummed and hawed (sp?) at 10 as there is justification for the PC, imho.

Rufus 8/10. I will say that refereeing the defense helped in all of these (well, in 8 of them anyway!) and is typically what I don't do when watching a game on TV (i.e., I'm more of a fan, not an official when just watching). Definitely a good exercise.
