first coach toss

I could have tossed the timer and scorer as well. Suffice it to say that had he been coaching at my school, "had" would be the operative word. I worked with the assignor and she has scratched that school as well. As good as the game on Tuesday was, this one was at the other extreme.

Can you elaborate in public?

Congrats on losing your maidenhood. :)
As indicated above, a few illustrative comments would be appreciated.

Play one. B1 charges from far lane line to side line and pushes A1. Easy whistle. I go to report and HC asks what happened. I described the play. He then comes out on the floor saying how that wasn't possible and then shouts out the "Call it both ways" for all to hear. So, about two minutes in. He has one. A1 was a bull in a china shop and had already picked up a rough foul.

Later, I notice that the clock operator is not running the clock, so I blow the whistle. go over to instruct him to run off 5 seconds, and he proceeds to tell me about the foul count. I tell him that he is to be impartial and that he can be replaced if he doesn't knock it off. Meanwhile, he runs the clock during the dead ball. (This was a MS boys game btw). He constantly was sounding the horn at inopportune times such as after an offensive foul.

Team B was down by about 15 points for most of the game. In the 4th, they had an intentional when a kid pushed an opponent in the back to the floor. After the inbound, B2 wraps his arms around A2 from the back, and I whistle a foul. 37 seconds left at this point. As I report, HC comes out onto the floor saying his kid was elbowed--which I suppose could happen if you carelessly bear hug your opponent from behind--and then starts in with accusations of cheating. At this point, I am done with him and t and toss him. The sheriff's deputy ushers him out of the gym, and we continue with the FTs. As I prepare to inbound, A1 (remember him?) starts trash talking a much smaller opponent. I step between them and tell them to cut it out. Of course, A1 escalates to threats and I t him up. At this point home scorer becomes more partisan than she already was. We call the coaches together along with the AD, and the AC starts complaining about calls. My partner then says the last 37 seconds are not worth it and that we are finished.

No AAU coach, and I have had some real pips, has approached this guy's demeanor. (The Varsity HS Coach leads the league in scratches by officials, so I am not surprised at the emulation). Had he been coaching at my school and my principal were in attendance, he would have been coaching his final game at the school.

And, no, he was not a wallflower in between.

Gone no matter what he says or does, he does not have a box or a floor to stand on if there is not a time out.

JMO.

Good story.

This would be why I've avoided middle-school games like the plague for about a decade :)

I do a handful each year to give back and to work with newer officials.

He hasn't earned the James Patterson treatment. What he has earned is a written statement to the Deputy Superintendent of Schools at the request of said D.S.
