I do the same on the ninth foul, except I use the index/middle fingers.

We don't have any schools in this area who don't put the fouls up on the board and I can only remember one time they've been wrong on the board in the area the last few years at the varsity level.
Same thing that I do.

That is fine and I know several people who do that, I just hate it when someone does this prior to the 1st attempt on a shooting foul which was the teams 6th of the half. Very confusing. It makes me unsure if the partner is trying to tell me that this is a 1-and-1, if he is asking me if this is a 1-and-1, or communicating about the next foul by this team. There is nothing wrong with a little extra communication, but for heaven's sake, pick a better time to do it!

Good to know. I will do that the next time we have a game together.

That's why I do it with verbal communication as well. "Next one" loud enough for my partners to hear.

This, combined with "DOWN HERE."

You will never see a "Hook 'em Horns" sign out of me, but then again, I'm a USC man.

Seriously, always communicate it orally at dead ball.

As an scorekeeper I like to tell my colleagues on the floor when we reach #6
"(Insert first name of official) bonus/one and one or double on the next."
