I know that many were not happy w game fee structures up north when compared to neighboring states. They now get $75 per game plus mileage, but are required to car pool when they can. That was at the varsity level. With the economy the way it is down here, I do not see any big changes any time soon. Things could always be worse, though.

in my area you are an independant contractor - you get paid what ever you and the school agree to
thsi goes for varsity contests as well
there are a few conferences that have contracted with an assignor and you get the contract price of $35 or $40 per official per game

Do you live in Louisiana?

I am in Nebraska and the $35-$40 per official is for junior varsity.
The conferences that have an assigner $60-$65 per offical for varsity contests.

typically no travel included but it can be offered or negotiated
