Recommand the Patent Leather Kicks

I'm keen to buy a pair of patent leather basketball referee shoes and need some recommendation.

I've tried BB623BK but with not much satisfactory... asked about the Pentagon but no one recommended. I know Rbk Zigs is a good option but any good-rated pairs besides that?

JRutledge Sat Nov 17, 2012 11:04pm

I am not a fan (anymore) of patient leather shoes. But I did buy the Zigs this year and love them. I will be wearing them a good part of the season. The other shoes look like crap and probably feel like that too based on what I have heard.

Peace

thanks. read a few good comments on Ultimate Patent Leather but don't know if it's true or just advertising...

I have a new pair of the 623's. I've only worn them once so far, but I like them. They're light but provide me with the support that I need.

Reebok Breezy?

Anyone tried Rbk Breezy patent leather? how'd size go? If I wear 8.5 in Nike or New Balance, what should I wear for Rbk Breezy?

If you do a Google search on them a pair of clown shoes pops up. Hmmmm, wonder who would be responsible for that?

My foot doctor recommends New Balance provided the number is over 600. I have had four pair of these and they have been great. Foot issues for me are a thing of the past.

See Ultimate Patent Leather Basketball Referee Shoes: Ump Attire

I've had these and they've been great. Among the best fitting and most comfortable shoes I've used. Of course, that largely depends on the shape of your foot, but they're worth a look.

I've worn the Official's Footwear the last 3 years and cannot say enough good things about them. Everyone has their preference, of course, but I'm satisfied with their look and feel.

I happen to know the guy who designs, owns, and distributes these shoes. I've owned 4 pairs of the shoes and really like the feel and support. Also like the internals that keep the tongue from shifting around, lines up in the middle every time.

Highly recommend!

That shoe looks ugly BTW. It might be comfortable, but it looks bad.

Peace

There are a lot of people who think it looks great.

Who are these "A lot of people" you speak of?

We should commission a working group to establish a committee to build a poll.

Welpe Mon Nov 19, 2012 03:02pm

Please let us not have a whizzing match over the perceived ugliness - or not - of a particular shoe.

I think all patent leather shoes look horrible. But that is just my opinion. Maybe I will bring myself to try a pair of them one day, but I don't know. I actually have two pairs of zigs (other colors for non-officiating activities) in the closet right now. 99.99% of the time that is exactly where they stay too...in the closet. Maybe the zigs officials wear are different even though they look the same or maybe that shoe just isn't very comfortable for me.

The ones that have bought them and keep buying them at sufficient numbers to keep them from being discontinued.

Nb

best shoes i've had were NB621 & 622 & 888, not 623. 623 is narrow and i can't say that it has enough support. a couple of years ago i tried Reebok "the Ref" patent leather and it was actually really good. now i just wanted to know if Rbk Breezy is good or not - i have a neutral arch, no pronation and medium-width foot.

I also love the reebok zigs. I have chronic ankle pain, and the zigs have taken most of the pain away. They sure are shiny!

I wore my Zigs for a real game last week for the first time in a while. Really felt good running on them opposed to the shoes I had been wearing in scrimmages.
