I would say no ... the potential "faking" T is usually considered to be the play where the defender is attempting to draw a PC/charging foul but flops (no contact) instead. Although, if egregious enough, I guess it could apply in other situations as well.

Was it ever clearly spelled out that that specific action was a T?

The only time I've seen it called was in a sectional game in Indiana (Clinton Prairie/Frankfort) in 1978--it was spelled out in the rules, even back then.

Bad part was, the defender got absolutely trucked.
