Best Test Question Ever

Here is a Question from the Basketball Rules test here in Michigan.:):D

24. A5 is a sight to behold . . . He’s dressed in a legal uniform (shirt and pants) which he is wearing legally . . . But just look at the rest of him! Which of the following items may A5 wear and still be allowed to participate?

A multi-colored elastic band that extends completely around the crown of his head, with a picture of Brittany Spears attached to the front
An, earring, carefully and fully covered by the team’s doctor with athletic tape
One pink knee high sock and one lime-green knee high sock
A necklace with an attached locket which holds a picture of his girlfriend and is firmly affixed to his chest with tape
A beige compression sleeve worn on his shooting arm “because Alan Iverson used to wear one and he is my hero”

If he has a medical note for the compression sleeve, it is okay. Otherwise only the socks are okay. Would be my answer.

That's going to depend on each specific state's rules.

This is regional, but we don't ask for a note. We just ask if it's for a medical purpose, and accept the answer.

We don't ask for the note either, just ask the coaches if everyone is properly dressed. If they say yes, they are saying it is being worn for medical reasons. As long as it is white, black, beige or a single school color, and the same for each team member they are good.

He may emulate AI by wearing the beige colored compression sleeve.

Not if that's his reason.

Agreed. However, his doctor may agree, as well.

Nope. The only way you can wear one is for medical purposes.

a few years ago when we were required to confirm with the coach if a player was wearing an arm sleeve for a medical reason a head coaches response to me, and this is a direct quote, was "yeah, he has a medical reason, he is ****ing retarded!"

Just wondering, but were there any questions about fan-shaped backboards?

Don't sell yourself short, Judge. You're not insensitive.

I knew it!!

And I was laughing too...pretty sure that if a coach said that to me, I would need to return to the locker room for a few minute to stop laughing.

I know the answer....

The next step is to start thinking in memes.

Not to judge, disparage, or seemingly lecture from on high to anyone who has commented on this, but this is completely offensive to me. Would this be an acceptable thing to hear/say/laugh about while officiating a team or player with special needs (which I have)? If not, why is it acceptable otherwise?

Just something to think about.

I don't mind being judged, I'll just say that's why I acknowledged that laughing means I'm a bit insensitive. I honestly don't use the term anymore, but for some reason I laugh when it catches me off guard.

Context. Not everything needs to be so PC. Too many people get too worked up over the wrong things...there are much bigger things in life to worry about.

Isn't most humor "offensive" to someone, somewhere? And isn't that why we laugh at things sometimes - because they are offensive? And that's why I said I would need to return to the locker room (or at least step out into the hallway or something).

I'm not going to quiz the players, coaches, and fans, regarding what the school colors are. If it's a single color, and they're all the same color for all the players, then I'm ruling it a school color, and thus, legal.

Our local high school's football coach purchased red helmets a few years ago. The high school colors are blue and white. The old timers in town had fits about the new helmets. That's all they groused about for months in the local gin joints, and barber shops. Of course, if they didn't have the new red helmets to grouse about, I'm sure that they would have come up with something else to complain about. That's what old timers do. Am I right Mark T. DeNucci, Sr.?
