What's "Cool" vs. "Rule" Lately?
Trends come and go. Some are stupid but legal, others clever and permissible. For instance, back in my day floppy socks were "in", ala Pistol Pete. We're waiting for the "cool" multi-colored compression sleeve thing, ala Alan Iverson, to fade.
Survey: What kinda things going on in your area are "cool" for players to do or wear which are, however, against a rule? |

Tights ...
Quote:
Compression Shorts/Tights - must be single color similar to shorts and the length shall be above the knee. Thus, full length leg tights are not allowed. Knee sleeves are legal and can be a different color. Knee sleeves do not need medical reason. |
Arm bands
that are worn just below the bicep (made popular by football players) are making their way on basketball courts. Some officials seem to be allowing them, although they would seem to me to fall in the category of wrist bands which must be worn below elbow (3-5-4c) If they're considered a brace, is it permissable as in 3-5-2b?
Also, there are now effective compression socks that extend well above the knee. They appear as full tights, but are not. What's our ruling here? |
