Delayed Violation

Looking for what I believe is an old Case Book play. Stating that A1 at the FT line and B1 violates. Ref has delayed signal and then team A calls timeout prior to the FT. When everyone comes out of the TO the delayed signal is once again kept up for the previous violation.

2006-07 Case Book

9.1.4 SITUATION C:
A1 is preparing to attempt a free throw. Prior to A1's release of the ball, B1 fakes causing A2 to enter the lane prematurely. A1 then requests and is granted a time-out.
RULING: Upon resuming play, A1 is entitled to a free throw and the official shall use the proper signal indicating a violation by B1 prior to the granting of the time-out. If the free throw is successful, the violation is ignored, if unsuccessful a substitute throw is awarded.

Don't know where it is (don't have my books to check) but you are correct.

The infraction has been committed and the penalty is that A1 gets a replacement throw if they miss that FT. The fact that a timeout occurs doesn't change that.
