102 FTs!
Wow. Just wow.
Girls V game. Home team rotated 12 players was banking their 2nd 5 was better than V's 2nd 5 and came out guarding hard in a 3/4 court press. They forced the tempo and the other team got sucked right into it. In the end, 66 fouls were called (33 for each team). 102 total FTs were shot on the night with the Vs going to the line 54 times (ties for 6th all-time in the state). H won the game by 6, or so after trailing most of the way. Oddly enough, more bellyaching came from the coaches over stuff we passed on rather than stuff we called. Game took 2 hrs. Ugh! |

I can't remember every having a game where that many free throws were shot, but I remember having a boys' H.S. varsity game with 60 fouls in the game and I remember having two women's college games with 56 fouls. The weird thing about the two college games was that both games involved the same two teams (University of Miami vs. Florida International University) on consecutive years. These two teams never did like each other, believe me. I officiated at least 6 games between these two teams when I was Florida.
