Since Rut trashed the posting of Davisms in another thread, I thought it might be interesting to see which type of post the readers of this board find more desirable - general posts by Rut or posts containing Davisms.
Go ahead and vote - it's the 4th of July and let's celebrate democracy. http://www.deephousepage.com/smilies/party5.gif |
Most are going to say the Davism.
You can post the Davisism all day. But if you think they are professional and are becoming of officiating, some would disagree with you. Just had an official tell me, "I cannot say any of that."
So ridicule coaches, players and fans all day if you like, call them names all day as well. But do not come here and get mad when they do the same to you on the court. Peace |

BTW - what's a "Davisism"? Is that something they say at Cal State-Davis? http://www.deephousepage.com/smilies/conf47.gif |
Ok- Most people on this board or what? Over 23-24? Theres the few majority of us that are of lesser age. Now you guys put so much focus on needing better officials coming up through the ranks? Consider the example you are setting for us younger officials who frequent this board (I myself am 16.) . Now, that I've said that. Mark - the altimatum to the general public of the board is someting I would see from one of my friends in a pick up basketball game. "Do you guys want me on your team to help you win or do you want me to go them and help them come back and kick you.." well you get the point. Yes the Davisms are funny, and yes you have some major elphants in your pants for using them on and off the court and you must be pretty high on yalls barking order to get away with that kind of stuff. But this is just getting ridiculus. We should be coming here to discuss the rules, discuss the odd situations, the different sort of things to make each other basketball officials. Its all about comoderity (spelling?) in our world. On the court we have no friends but each other. I think what you did was funny, proffesional? no but niether was the coach/cop. I'm not saying funny stories and good times arent acceptable but this is ridiculus...
I dunno, maybe thats just me being 16. I dont know. JA |

I tried not to pick on things that I thought were simple typing errors. Didn't want to seem mean. That's why I didn't point out "someting". Oops. . . :)
|
ROFLMAO aight so my typing and grammar skills arent that of Chuck and Julie yet. But don't let those reflect on my officiating skills or the POINT I was trying to make.

Right now, I'm living in a building with over 500 interns (more than half of them female). We're thinking of renaming the place to "Clinton's Wonderland."

I vote "aye" on the previous question - there's no way I can say any Davisms during my games, so this is an outlet for all of the things I want to tell players/coaches.

Not all young people are against the davisms. I am 16 years old myself, and i feel that on the court, a lot of coaches feel that just because i'm young, i don't know what i'm doing. Some davisms really help me to put the coaches and spectators back in their places. Although in certain situations, i won't use them, because a technical foul conveys the message in a much more professional way, I feel that they do come in very handy, and should be shared on this forum.

The Davism's are obviously very funny, I enjoy reading them, but also obviously they are not the kinds of things that most of us could get away with with saying, (if we want to move up). I will admit I have on a rare occassion, slipped and let loose with something similiar to a Davism. A couple of months ago during a Spring league game, a coach was ripping me about a very obvious hacking foul, as I trotted out to report the foul, without even looking at him, I said loudly for all to hear, "coach a blind man could have made that call" yes I was ashamed of my unprofessional approach, but at the same time it felt pretty good, as the coach was left speechless, and my partner was cracking up.

Bring on the Davisms
Hello all,
I'm new to this forum but I have been reading it for a while now. The Davism are hilarious - there are times when they can actually diffuse a situation so for that reason, bring them on. Of course, they can also inflame a situation when used unwisely so it is up to you to be smart and judge the situation. Enough of the seriousness. Looking forward to more Davism !!! |
So, for those scoring at home, as well as those by themselves:
Majority: comedyphilic Minority: comedyphobic One: xenophobic One: homophobic |
