That makes no sense. People with wider feet can't wear them. How does that make the company evil? Just ignorance...

He didn't call them an evil company, he called them the "evil empire". Entirely different meaning. Entirely different context.

Do you have anything to back up calling a company evil because they don't make a product that fits you? Otherwise your lack of an argument is really not anything I can respond to.

It's a frickin' joke. Just like people call the New York Yankees or ESPN "the evil empire". Get a grip.

Please, come back down to earth. The company is not evil (as BNR noted).

Their shoes have never worked for me so I used a social metaphor to equate what the shoes mean to me. And sorry to say, you missed my joke. Как жаль.

Oh, yes the Yankees are the original evil sports empire.

That's not what you said. You said this: +$100.00 Yes, Nike = The Evil Empire.

So you can backtrack now and blame me for "not getting it" but that's not what you originally meant. Nice debating skills, though. Moving on...

I know exactly what I wrote. I did not say "Nike" = the company. You made an incorrect assumption based what you saw in my post.

I agree with you on one thing - "moving-on time" Where is Mr Bob when we need him most? The good that Nike (THE COMPANY) does for the state of Oregon is fantastic - as noted by Mr Mark. I wear Nike non-shoe gear. I just will not wear shoes made by Nike.

I understood "evil empire" as a joke equating them with the Yankees or ESPN.

Really Smitty? Do you really want to get this hot and bothered about this comment? First and foremost if someone wants to call a company like Nike the "evil empire" they have many reasons to do so. It was clear he was just talking about the fit those shoes are in his world. That does not apply to me, but in no way would I be offended if someone did not like a certain shoe company. There really has to be other things that upset you than this comment.

Peace

I'm not upset. Or hot and bothered. I simply asked why. Then BadNewsRef got snippy and I responded to him. It's a knee jerk reaction to think that Nike is evil - I was simply curious why. Never really got the answer, but it all went sideways so who cares. Thank goodness, though, that the world revolves around what you would be offended by or not.

I do not know what you are emotionally, but it seems like an overreaction to something that really was in a very lighthearted context. So what if someone thinks Nike is evil? Do you have stock in the company? Do you work for the company? Otherwise it as a joking comment that was to illustrate a person's feeling toward their shoes. If people can call the Yankees or other companies evil in the context of sports, then why would you even be worried about that characterization?

I am just a little miffed why you care what someone thinks of a company. It is not like Nike is doing things for the betterment of the larger society. They are doing things to make a profit. In some world view that could be considered on some level evil.
