I'm almost, kind of , sort of back

Well, my surgery is finally over and I'm recuperating now in an assisted living center, my second place to do this. I finally got my computer installed by my son who, along with my other kids, has been incredible. Unfortunately, the connection is rather poor at this place so I won't be on the net too much.

Right now it looks doubtful that I'll be returning to officiating but I may be able to help out doing evals and maybe a little training.

APG Fri Jun 15, 2012 06:14pm

Glad to hear the surgery went well.

BillyMac Fri Jun 15, 2012 07:26pm

Swine, Or Bovine ???

The biggest, and most important, question on my mind right now? Are you still kosher?

I also want to hear about sponge baths, and hot, single, nurses, hopefully of the female persuasion.

JRutledge Fri Jun 15, 2012 07:31pm

Mark please take care of yourself and get back to a healthy place. I wish you the best and my prayers are with you my friend.

Peace

Mark, take care of yourself. Spending time with your grandkids is far more important than getting back on the basketball court.

canuckrefguy Sat Jun 16, 2012 12:11am

Best of luck, Mark!

Bad Zebra Sat Jun 16, 2012 09:37am

Just noticed this thread...glad to see you back, Mark. Heal quick...we need your wit and perspective.

Rob1968 Sat Jun 16, 2012 09:38am

Great to hear from you!

Mark,
We're gald to have you back, at any capacity! Prayers are answered, and will continue throughout your recovery.
May God bless you and your family!

rockyroad Sat Jun 16, 2012 10:57am

Good to hear from you, Mr. Padgett. Rest and heal!

Camron Rust Sat Jun 16, 2012 11:53am

WB Mark,

Hope you continue to recover fully and quickly.

Oh, and I hope you didn't puke you the nurses' shoes in the recovery room!

grunewar Sat Jun 16, 2012 01:52pm

Really?

Tru dat.

Mark Padgett Sat Jun 16, 2012 05:48pm

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Right now, the way I feel doesn't lead me to believe I'll be back in stripes.

BTW - the nurses were hot - not that I could do anything about it.

Not That There's Anything Wrong With That ...

OK. But what were the female nurses like?

BktBallRef Sat Jun 16, 2012 08:09pm

Leave the nurses alone.

On second thought, if they're slow enough for you to catch, they're probably too old to fool around anyway. ;)

JugglingReferee Sun Jun 17, 2012 08:59am

Glad to hear, Mark!

ref3808 Mon Jun 18, 2012 11:27am

Give yourself time to heal Mark. If I recall correctly from my father's experience the first few months were very difficult, and the progress was slow, but he's made it all the way back.

Glad you're back on the board and feeling well enough to post! God bless.

By the way, the nurses are not all that impressed with the old "want to see my scar" line, you'll need better than that to get in the game.

I was gonna say, Billy's request that they be single is moot, for the very reason you mention.

Glad to hear you're mending!

Rufus Mon Jun 18, 2012 12:09pm

Good to hear from you Mark, glad the surgery went well, and praying for your full recovery.

Rich Mon Jun 18, 2012 12:50pm

Give it time. You may come back, you may not. Most importantly, though, life will go on. And so will you, one way or another. You still have lots to give, even if it doesn't involve a whistle and running up and down a basketball floor.

Don't be a stranger.

Indianaref Mon Jun 18, 2012 01:52pm

Mark, sorry about your circumstances. I am praying for you to have a complete and quick recovery.

I'm still waiting to find out if it was a bovine valve, or a swine valve. I'm preparing jokes for either, but I would like to start concentrating on one. Hope it's a swine valve. Lots of jokes available about a swine valve: kosher, pigs flying, etc. A bovine valve could also be interesting with jokes about free milk.

Mark, glad to see you back. Please keep in touch. How else will I add to my list of one-liners?

OK - it was a swine valve. Let the jokes begin. BTW - my rabbi said it was OK since I didn't eat any of the swine, but it was just inserted to save my life.

I'm actually kind of disappointed. I was hoping to go in a, "My family doesn't enjoy the mooing, but they do like the free milk", direction.

I once got a bovine bone graft after having a tooth pulled. The Red Cross let me donate blood right away. The next time that I got a tooth pulled, I got a human bone graft. The Red Cross made me wait a year before donating blood. I guess that the Red Cross never heard of "Mad Cow Disease"?

Keep getting better Mark Padgett.

Mark,

I haven't been on the board in a while -been way too busy, so this is the first I heard of your situation. Glad you made it through the surgery OK - hope your recovery continues!
