BillyMac wroteOn the Dwyane Wade block play, does Paul Pierce travel? I've got him lifting his pivot foot, and then returning it to the floor before the ball is released, and before the ball was blocked by Wade.
Per NBA rules a player is allowed two steps AFTER gathering the ball. In this play, Paul Pierce gathers the ball with his right foot on the floor. He then next steps with his left foot (step 1), then steps with his right foot (step 2) making the left foot the pivot. Paul has picked up the pivot foot but releases the ball for a field goal attempt prior to the pivot foot being returned to the floor.
Per NFHS/NCAA rules, this would be a travel.
