Howdy everyone,

I need to purchase new shoes for next season (Sept) and I've read a post in the past that there are some shoes that are teh best for keeping shiny.

Just wondering if those shoes, and what are they again???, are still the best, and what is the best method for keeping your shoes shiny.

Thanks, and regards,

Mike

Lots of refs are now using the New Balance 907 cross-trainers. They're black, and very comfortable as well as durable. They need polish, but to me, it's more important to have a shoe that's kind to your feet. You can always keep a bottle of liquid wax on hand.

Want 'Em Shiny?

Go for LeatherLuster. It's a liquid polish that is available from leatherluster.com. Top shelf stuff.

What's with the shiny shoes. Ok it seems the veterans who call the top games have shiny shoes while us want-a-bees have new black ones.
Please don't tell me I've gotta shine to move up

Stew: You do have to "shine" to move up and it helps if your shoes shine also.

Asics Gel 110 is an all black shoe that I found to be really comfortable -- buy it a half size up from your normal shoe size

Shoes are my number one concern! New Balance is coming out in the fall with a black running shoe that comes in wide sizes!! Currently I am using the NIKE Vamoose for camp and tournament season. Very comfortable running shoe, but I did have to "paint" some of the gray on the sole. The NB cross trainers aren't very good for me. I crush those shoes and they only last about a month.

You have to look the part, meaning you have to look like they want you to. That means shining your shoes. I can tell you, the higher you go you will have to have shined shoes. Many assignors (who assign HS and college at the same time) require this to be done. And that not just expected in basketball, baseball and football as well. Just as much apart of the uniform as your striped shirt.

Peace

NIKE

I bought a pair of Nike Air End 2 End. They are low cut, very light and extremely comfortable. I like them so much that I bought an extra pair. I use black liquid wax to get the shine that I like.

With Leather Luster, you have to be very careful to get your shoes properly prepared otherwise the leather luster will never dry properly.

Patent Leather Shoes

Personally, I hate patent leather shoes. They don't breathe and thus are hot. Also, once you scuff them, they remained scuffed. I've also used various other Converse like Runin Ref and Whistle but for comfort, none of them compare to the NB 907. A good insole will help the converse a lot. A good insole in the NB and it feels like running on pillows.
