out of bounds?

Had something happen to me last night that I'd never seen before - player was completely in bounds, except for his untied shoe lace (holding the ball). What's the call? I left it alone purely for game management.

It's part of his shoe. His shoe is on his foot. Violation.

Maybe he'll keep it tied next time.

Ah, the old shoelace in the lane question. Should I post the NFHS ruling on the player's ponytail touching out of bounds?

I had a game a few years ago in which a kid was just holding the ball with both hands near the sideline. His coach yelled something at him about calling a play and he pivoted to look at the coach. When he did that, he stepped OOB. The coach then yelled at him something like, "What's wrong with you? Did you leave your brain on the bench?" My partner said to the coach, "If he'd done that, he'd be out of bounds anyway."
