Cool story. Tell it again.

Welpe Mon Mar 19, 2012 04:07pm

I think he's asking if that's a classic whistle with a moutguard? Or I'm out to lunch and that's not it...

Uneventful game???

Except for Manning, the events in this game would have led every sports show on radio and TV today.

The CMG (Cushioned Mouth Grip) allows whistles to last much much longer. They're great!

Hate the CMG. I've used the same 2 whistles for 3 seasons now. Teeth marks, yes, but the whistles still work fine.

Camron Rust Mon Mar 19, 2012 08:22pm

Remember Ref, when I think he hit me across my wrist like this, you're suppose to blow your whistle.

+1

I'm more likely to lose a whistle than break one.

I'm more likely to break a whistle than lose one.

I have enough whistles to (likely) last the rest of my career. I've used the same whistle for football now for the last 5 seasons.

JRutledge Tue Mar 20, 2012 12:20am

I go through several whistles in a year. I would never use the same whistle for years, that is just nasty to me. Eventually I would want something clean or more clean to use. With all the times you touch a whistle and a basketball (and in my case football as well) I really do not want to continue using that over that extended period of time.

BTW, I hate the CMG whistles and really do not like to use them.

Peace

Umm, you know that whistles are really easy to clean. I like whistles with my teeth marks already in. Why would I get rid of a perfectly good whistle?

Welpe Tue Mar 20, 2012 08:24am

I use a classic in basketball, I don't like the CMG in my mouth the whole time.

In football, I use a CMG but I don't keep the whistle in my mouth.

letemplay Tue Mar 20, 2012 08:30am

Is that over in Mount Airy?

I think Marshall is asking about his patch, not being familiar with North Carolina Agricultural & Architectural:D

You assume that a perfectly good whistle is an old whistle to me. Again, I probably use a whistle longer than many here that only work basketball. I use whistle during football too and those whistles deteriorate all the time. If you use the CMG, the plastic starts to come off and the little pieces start having to be spit out of my mouth. Then if you use the regular Fox 40 the plastic also deteriorates as well and groves in the plastic develops and they can break down as well. Now just like I would not use a plastic fork over and over again without at some point throwing it out and using another, the same goes for a whistle. They cost only about $5 or $6 dollars for the most part, using a couple during the season is not a big deal or investment. And yes I clean them off, but I would like a newer one every now and then. Is that OK with you? ;)

Peace

Great. Not everyone is the same.

You're right, it was a poor attempt at a joke.

I was actually going to add, later, that we have enough things that we need to conform with; the back and forth on this was just funny.

I used to crack a regular Fox 40 every season. No such problem with the CMG. And I can't afford to lose a 6-8 dollar whistle.

You're more of a chewer than I am. I had a basketball partner have to work with a cracked Fox40 for almost an entire half this past season. He showed me at the quarter break and the only response I could make was to laugh at him.

Not chewing as much as biting down hard.

I do wish they made the CMG in black and not the "clear."

For me, I hate the thickness the CMG adds to the whistle. I've bought some "other" whistles -- the Sonik Blast and the Dolphin and nothing fits in my mouth like a Fox40 Classic.

I got it. And laughed. But maybe that actually proves your point.

There is a new Fox40 whistle coming out that has a black mouthguard.
