Thanks, that was a gutsy call then! And correct. I went back and watched again and he entered with ball about half way to the basket!

Announcers are killing it, but that's the norm these days.

Thanks for the clarification

David

Well, you would think so but Ed Corbett saw Syracuse 9x this year and then worked their game on Thursday.

And yep, the official nailed the end of the game.

However, I wish they would eliminate lane violations on made FTs for BOTH teams in HS and college (with the exception of the shooter). There's no advantage gained when the ball goes in the basket.

the free throw violation. I havent seen it called all year long, even though its the correct call. So naturally after it happens, i assume there was some meeting to focus on it, and its called again today. When generally I would think watching travels, holds, etc would be more of a focus. But the point is, dont you generally step when games are physical and say something like "watch the hands"....why not do it on the free throw, you should explain to them, because you shouldnt want them to committ the violation...afterall they are all so uneducated about it. If you dont like people/announcers infering differently or players not knowing.. TELL THEM

I haven't seen a player outside the arc enter the lane early all year.

My guess is you haven't either, but instead, choose to make such a generalization to validate your point.

Why in the hell is an official going to remind players of the restrictions on free throws at the end of the game, in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament...when this exact play was called and explained YESTERDAY! It's not a new rule. If a player was close to violating, then I can see reminding them next opportunity that you get. If they violate so egregiously that you can't warn them, that's on them.

That's the same way with trying to warn players out of fouls. If you're going to do that, it doesn't mean you're not going to call a foul before you warn them if they go over the line before you can tell them.

This exact play happened in game 3 of the Miami Heat vs Boston Celtics series in the 2nd quarter...shot attempt, foul with .1 left on the shot clock, made basket.

They went to review it, counted the basket as the shot clock should have stopped on the foul.

Can you show video on the play last night. It was a great example of the application of the rule.

Peace
