And Soccer Officials Wonder Why We Make Fun Of Them!

I read this article on MSN Sports, the video is in French I think: Unconscious soccer player on stretcher gets red card for diving | Yardbarker.com

Soccer Referees do make mistakes, just like us...

...and for what it's worth, the soccer referees on this forum spend all of two or three posts acknowledging that the caution for simulation (the red came because it was a second yellow) was way out of line, and spend the rest of the thread discussing whether it should have been a Penalty to the offense instead.

What was he supposed to do, wait to he regained consciousness?

Just because he really committed to the dive doesn't mean it wasn't a dive.

If you watched the Women's World Cup last year, you might recall in the US-Brazil match that one of the Brazilian players went down hard and had to be removed from the field on a stretcher. This occurred towards the end of the match as the US appeared to be mounting a comeback. As soon as the stretcher crossed the goal line, the player leapt off the stretcher and ran around the flag to the touchline so she could be readmitted to the game. (She was readmitted but only after receiving a caution for unsporting behavior.)

When soccer players are that committed to deception, I have a hard time faulting a referee who didn't actually see a foul.
