Wilt's 100 pt game.

Today is the 50th anniversary of Wilt Chamberlin's 100 pt game against the Knicks. The box score shows that the officiaals for the game were: Willie Smith and Pete D'Ambrosio. Can anybody shine any light on these two gentlemen?

Why did he become such a poor free throw shooter later in his career? I remember him experimenting with an underhanded shot.

Wilt was a career 51.1% free throw shooter while Shaq was a 52.7% free throw shooter.

But was there ever a game where Shaq missed only 4 FTs and scored more than 20 points?

Mark:

Thanks for the link. I was looking at the box score on Wikepedia, and Wilt's teammates included Paul Arzin, Guy Rodgers (he had 20 assists that night), and Al Attles; four of his teammates scored in double figures. And the Knicks had five players score in double figures including Richie Guerin with 39, Cleveland Buckner with 33, and Willie Naulis with 31. Rodgers 20 assists were more that all of the assists that the Knicks had.

Prep Blog: Wilt scored 100 points 50 years ago; who holds the college and prep marks and does it ever happen ethically?

Years ago, a kid in my neighborhood scored 100 points in a driveway game. Of course, it was a one-on-one game and I was the other player. :o
