Looks Good..
Was at GV playoff game watching officials from another area assoc. Came across a guy who I felt a a VERY strong game because he was on top of everything including:
1) 3 seconds 2) Lane Violations 3) Block Charge 4) Bench decorum 5) Clock issues and of course fouls and other violations. Does this type of comprehensive game calling impress an evaluator? or just me :) |
Well, it WAS a GV Playoff game, so me thinks his refereeing and game management skills probably impressed someone along the way.
|
I don't know that calling a lot of 3 seconds or lane violations is necessarily impressive.

Kudos to those working, but as an evaluator, 3 seconds is barely on my radar. Proper game management would be first, and would include talking players out of such violations....unless they are chronic.

I haven't called Three Seconds in 45 years and I started officiating in 1971.

I'll call a few every year, but I'd be concerned if one of the comments I received was that I was on top of the three second calls.

Thanks For The Help ...
Yesterday's prep school game. Post player has the ball in the lane for a few seconds after a couple of pump fakes. He passes the ball out to a guard on the wing, and he stays in the lane. Guard receiving the pass yells to his teammate, the post player, to get out of the lane. Post player doesn't follow the guard's instructions.
I sounded my whistle. Anybody want to guess why I sounded my whistle? I'll give you three guesses. |
