You never know

I had my final games last night. Freshman tournament, championship games.

2nd game was boys, 1 team very much overmatched and with only 7 players. They are down 25-30 most of the game, but keep fouling, primarily on rebounding play. DOG warning, and bad attitudes but nothing worth a T. I had one player "accidentally" knock away a missed first free throw.

Two of their players foul out and in comes a young man who was much smaller than everyone else on the court.

Now, here comes the part where "you never know." This team which seemed to have a bad attitude was (and there really isn't another word for it) gentle with this young man. They were encouraging when he violated on FT, when he would get beat on D, when he threw up a wild shot.

I may have misjudged this team. :o

This player is either going to retrieve that ball, or we're shooting FTs. Your use of quotes indicates you knew it wasn't an accident; that's enough for me.
