Coach made me laugh
8th grade boys, A team. Before the start of the game, while chatting with the coach.
Me: Coach, any medical conditions we should know about on your team? Coach: (with a straight face) Yes, all my guys are dumb. Is there anything we can do about that? Another honorable mention, at least for my very dry sense of humor. I'm Trail standing right by the bench of the coach whose team has possession. Girls JV. (player gets the ball at the top of the key, begins to dribble) Coach: (yelling) set up the offense! set up the offense! set it up!! (player takes two dribbles and jacks up an off balance 16 foot jumper) Coach: (under her breath, but I can hear her) .... or just do whatever you feel like... |
As I always tell the coaches, at least I can see different players and fans every week, you're stuck with them all year!

I usually ask this question. If a kid has asthma or hypoglycemia or some condition I never even heard of that could remotely possibly require attention, I want the coach to know that he is free to do what needs to be done and being beckoned in this case is not a concern.
