Newbie asks rules question at ref mtg

Last night, we had a referee meeting for our local kids rec league and one of the HS freshmen (in his first year with us) that works "little kid" games asked if you shoot offensive fouls if they are intentional or flagrant. The first response to his question was to ask him if there were any intentionals or flagrants in the 3rd grade games that he works. He said no, but it did come up in a HS rec game in which he was playing. He said the refs awarded the shots and possession on an offensive flagrant foul.

What do you newbies think? Were they correct?

Exception, Double Fouls ...

C'mon Mark Padgett. Is this a test? You know that there is no such thing as an offensive foul. You also know that intentional fouls, and flagrant fouls, are not common fouls, and they are not considered to be team control fouls, nor player control fouls.

Maybe it was a reading comprehension test...

Please define "offensvie foul" and indicate the rulebook reference. Thanks.

I notice no "newbies" have dirtied their hands with this one yet.

Not only is there no definition for an "offensvie" foul, but there is also no such animal as an "offensive" foul.

If I ever see a dressing room work a game, that will be the day I give it up.

Very common with middle school games here in my little corner of Connecticut, even those assigned by our high school assigner. Few middle schools have dressing facilities. Coming dressed is not acceptable for any level high school game, with exceptions of "rushed" double assignments, i.e., 3:30 p.m middle school game at Springfield Middle School, followed by a 5:30 p.m. junior varsity game at Springfield High School, which is a several miles away from the middle school. Bart Simpson is really a pretty good player. Lisa is horrible.

I don't brag about anything, especially anything "in from an athletic point of view."

What are you talking about?

Two factors come into play:

1. Eat after the game

2. Table manners

As you guys said, the penalty for an intentional or flagrant foul has nothing to do with team or player control. Two free throws and the ball to the offended team at the OOB spot nearest the foul.
