Bad Clock Operator
Girls Varsity Friday night. A1 Bringing the ball up the court with time winding down. Shoots from half court and gets fouled on the shot. 1 tick remaining.
A1 make first 2 FT's. Third FT hits the rim, the glass, the rim again. BUT, the clock operator starts the clock on the ball hitting the rim, therefore the horn goes off as the ball is still bouncing above the rim. All players stop playing at the horn. (They were all boxing out on the ball hitting the rim). Put 1 second back on the clock and go to the Arrow? |
Yep.

Arrow was pointing to A.
That would have given me an OOB play with one second underneath our basket? |
That's what I would have done, from the way I read it.

Thanks. That's what I argued. I lost. Officials confered and said half over.
Upside, we got the ball to start the 3rd quarter.:) Lost by 20. Need to trade the coaching whistle for the officials whistle.... |
Was the FT attempt successful? (you say the horn went off while the ball was still above the rim, which says to me that it could've possibly still gone in)
If the FT was successful, put 1 second back on the clock and give Team B the throw-in. If the FT was unsuccessful (which I'm guessing was the case here), put one second back on the clock and go to POI. |

With the made, POI is the end line throw in for B. With the missed, POI is the arrow. |
