What in the world is that noise?

Well...I certainly had a first tonight.

2:55 remaining in the 4th quarter, as the ball is in the air for a lay up for the visiting team (this made it a 12 point game) I hear a noise and I'm not sure what it is. I glance over to the home team's student section and see they are all heading for the door. I'm thinking they have planned some joke and are all rolling out.

Turns out... it was the fire alarm. I kill the play. Home coach wants the bucket wiped as we are trying to exit. I inform the coach we will address the situation once we all return but for now we need to follow the procedures to ensure everyone is safe.

Once we got the all-clear and returned, I got the two coaches together and counted the bucket and we resumed play at POI.

Very interesting way to end the game.

I had a fire alarm earlier this season...As it sounded, I was about to blow play dead, but game admin waved at me to keep going.... But I stopped anyway just to be sure. Thankfully, game admin was on it and knew there was no need to evacuate.
Anyone ever had to stop a game and evacuate before resuming?

As I read the OP, tjones did.

I've had it happen, too.

Wasn't there a movie? Starring Samuel L. Jackson? Playing a basketball referee?
