Book error technical and Coach's box

Part way through the first quarter, A22 checks in to the game. Scorekeeper sounds the horn and informs us both books have the player listed as another number. We charge a technical and have them make the corrections in the book.

I just want to make sure we charged it correctly. We counted it as a team technical only and didn't charge the player or the coach with an indirect tech. Thus they can still use their coaches box correct?

Yep, consult the handy chart in the back part of the rules book. You will see that the box for the head coach is blank for administrative technicals. Learn this chart and it will serve you well.

I "heard of a guy" once who screwed this up and tagged a coach directly. He had been a pain all game, and the "guy" was pretty glad to stick him. Coach didn't like being belted, and earned his second T shortly after. My friend doesn't regret tossing the coach, but would do it differently now.

After sticking the coach with the 2nd direct T what if someone on the crew then says "hey, that T for the book error should not have been a direct T."

You gonna correct it and allow the coach to stick around?

If that happened, yes, I would.

Great thanks for pointing this out. I will.
