First time for me

For the first time in 20 years of officiating, I awarded bonus free throws before the alternating possession arrow had been set to start the period.

Good thing I remembered when the arrow actually gets set in that sitch! :)

Details, please!

I think he wants somebody to say that's impossible.

Time Sure Flies When You're Having Fun ...

Have we actually had the alternating possession arrow for twenty years now? Man, it seems like it was only yesterday that we were having several jump balls in a typical game, more in a girls game, especialy the lower level games.

Beginning of OT. 7th or greater foul on team B during the scramble for the loose ball after the jump ball and prior to anybody establishing control?

Arrow set to B's direction when A1 has ball at his disposal for first free throw.

That is one impressive guess. I had no clue how it could happen.

You are corRECT, sir!

Visitors down by 3, with the ball for a frontcourt throw-in with 0.7 seconds left in the second half. Catch, pivot, quick release. . . banks it in!

I toss, the ball gets tapped to my right, scramble, visitor dives into the back of home player's legs. Automatic bonus.

I've thought about this happening but have never seen it. Does it really play that big a difference to set the arrow at the first free throw as opposed to at the disposal of the throw-in as is more common?

Since I know it's suppose to be set at the first free throw, I would set it then if I ever happen to have this, but I could never figure out why the difference.

Oops, I was thinking when a technical foul is issued prior to the arrow being set, in OT. We still set it at the disposal of the first free throw...but I could never figure out why.

In the bonus, it makes sense. Sorry for the confusion.

Even with a T, you could have one on the other team before the throw in.

What if we have a double FT violation?

On a T?

Yeah I didn't mean for free throws for the bonus as that makes perfect sense.

Actually now that I'm thinking about it, you could have the free throw shooter violate by not hitting the rim and someone from opposite team breaking the 3 point line before the ball did(n't) hit the rim.

Why do you make me think of these crazy scenario's :D
