Cancellation with a twist
I was scheduled to work the first game of a tournament that pits the teams from the North and South divisions of a conference against one another based on the standings. 1 plays 1, 2 plays 2, ..., 6 plays 6.
Our game was scheduled for 6PM. But one of the contracted officials ended up scheduled to work the game involving a school where he teaches -- so we switched games and took the late game tonight. This afternoon the visiting team for the late game decided to cancel all events due to snow -- home *and* away. The 6PM game was still on, last I heard. So the other crew got switched to the early game and I ended up losing the game as it's been rescheduled for a day I'm already working. So I'll go out to dinner with my family instead. For once, I feel like I'm the winner. |
Along those same lines......
Our games for tomorrow are already cancelled (snow), so I have a rare Saturday off. Think the wife has got that "honey do" list all revved up and ready to go!

And have you made significant inroads into that list? |
It's My Lucky Day ???
I had three Catholic middle school games, and a high school varsity game, canceled today due to a few inches of snow. Instead of spending the day officiating, I spent it snow blowing my driveway, and cleaning the whole house, top to bottom, dusting, vacuuming, etc. I'm out about $150.00, and I'm doing chores instead. I guess I'll start doing my laundry now.

I did bag some serious brownie points yesterday. In lieu of the Ravens/Pats game, we went to a chick flick at Cine Bistro. Also, I did record the game. |
