I had these two situations last night in Spring League and I don't think I called them right, I am sure there will be those of you out there who would help me on this.
Play 1:
Player A takes the ball out on baseline. Player A passes the ball in and Player B swats it out of the air into the waiting arms of Player A, who has not moved and is still standing out of bounds. I give the ball to Team B.

Play 2:
Player A and B are scrambling after a loose ball. Player B jumps in the air (started in bounds) and tries to throw the ball off of Player A who is now standing out of bounds. I award the ball to Team A. My split second thought process was Player A was an out of bounds object.

I am not 100% confident of either call.

Hey, Fletch, if you think about it, you're contradicting yourself on the calls. In both cases, you could argue player A is an OOB object.

First one right. Kicked second one.

At least, that's what I would be claiming when you gave me the T.

I'm with Coach. By the way, Fletch, theboys' quote says you're either one or the other; but you were both a good example and a horrible warning in the same post!!! :D

BktBallRef Wed May 14, 2003 09:06am

Yep, you missed the second one.

Ouch that hurts! I will live with the first part of the quote, but a "Horrible warning" might be a little harsh. I got no argument for either call from either coach. Just in the back of my mind I thought I had kicked the second one. Thus, I came on this board to expose what turned out to be a correct assumption for further edification. Heck, I should be nominated Official of the Year for kicking the call and asking for help! (Ok, that may be a little out there! Now had I whacked a coach for arguing and stood by my ground I would have been a HORRIBLE warning and a TRAGIC example and should be publicly flogged for gross arrogance and stupidity!

Oh all right. You're a good example and mild warning at the same time. Better? Friends? I don't want to get your Scotch-Romanian blood boiling. Let's meet for lunch in Provo, and put it on the Underhill's bill. But I'm not dressing up as Little Bo Peep. :D

Actually it is Comanchee Indian and I am having lunch with Alan at the In and Out Burger, maybe just the In and Out or just the IN. Afterwards we are going back to his house, which used to be Hopalong Cassidy's house before he killed himself in a tragic bow and arrow accident.
Now if you will excuse me I have to go see what the fetter a%& Hanarhan wants, he is probably bucking for a promotion.

A player is never an OOB object. (Subs, coaches, other team members are OOB objects).

I just saw BITS today and you know what I couldn't figure out? I couldn't figure out what I was doing in Utah.
I have to step out for my urinealysis, a cup of hot fat and the Beatles White album.
