Ok everyone, answer me this!!1 Why when pointing direction in Fed ball are we not allowed to use the 2 finger point like we are in CCA mechanics?
inquiring minds wanna know.. TR |
By using the full hand to point, it is much easier to transition your pointing hand into the "T formation".
|
Ok..time for some serious answers.
lol. TR |
Because the FED and NCAA men's rulesmakers are terrified that they will be perceived as "trying to be like the NBA". That's also why the team control foul signals are different in the NCAA men's and women's.

but the 2 finger is still good...
the people who evaluate me in Long Beach, CA are split on the 2-finger vs. full hand. I swear by the 2-finger point in my FED games-maybe becuase I do baseball as well, but more because I simply think it looks a helluva lot sharper than a full hand...crisp, clean, and professional.

It depends which finger you're using!

Yet another detail?
Since I have my first state association camp in about a week, I suppose I need to ask the silly, obvious question and get clarification...
So, in NFHS I am SUPPOSED to be pointing with the whole hand? I usually point with just my index finger, is that bad? |

Under FIBA, we point with only our index finger... There are some dude's that use 2 fingers instead, but oficially it's only one (which I prefer).
ADR |
Dutch ref, pointing with the index finger is personal, intimidating, confrontational and is not in the FIBA mechanics manual.

Why do you make that statement? I'm just trying to understand. |

Ah, it makes a lot more sense when you look at it that way!

Thanks Chuck and J.R., I should have mentioned that my reply did refer to the foul situation. There is definitely no problem pointing with finger to show direction of play

When in Rome......
If your Assoc. lets you point "Pro-style", do it. If not, Full hand, thumb tucked, is the way to go! :D |
