Oh, I wouldn't say it's dead. Heck, it's not even being phased out. And certainly not scaled back. . .

I hope you are right.
Do you have information that proves this? Website, link, anything?
Peace

Jeff,
I got the WIAA (Wisconsin) bulletin today (a newsletter they send out periodically) that listed the rules changes that have already been on this site. Listed with it are some mechanics changes, and I posted those under a different thread, which shouldn't be too hard to find. http://www.officialforum.com/thread/8583 They correspond to sections of the Federation mechanics manual, so I'm assuming these are NFHS changes. I hope this is a change, but over the last few years the Illinois High School Association used some of their own mechanics that were not totally inline with the NF. So I hope they adopt this one.

Re: I wish.

If the foul was out in the open the player knew he/she was being called. When there is a group under the basket and there is lots of contact players do not know who the call was on. Then you have to point to one and ask him/her to turn so you can see the number. That is when some evaluators took exception. |

The former scorekeeper was fuming. That was cool.

I like the change. It has been a challenge to go from the stripped down NCAA mechanics (which I prefer) to the NF mechanics which have always, IMO, been cumbersome and aniquaited. The mechanics have been around for a long enough period of time as standard signals that scorekeepers and coaches should know what we have done without all of the excess signals.
