In northern VA, we used to have separate scholastic commissioners for boys and girls -- same association, but different officials (usually). We had what we called the "cross-over" program where boys officials had to work a minimum of 3 games and vice versa. This was required to officiate at the region playoffs and above. I was always amazed at how "hard" it was for the boys officials to find the time to work the 3 girls games. This was really dumb! We finally went to one assignor for all scholastic games. We do have officials that prefer girls games and they also work a few boys games. It really doesn't matter to me which games I am assigned. I'm good no matter what the game is.
