Exclamation 10 games in one day!

No, not me, but a buddy of mine. He came on this morning after my shift to work three local kids rec league games and then headed out to a MS tournament (which I am also working later) to do seven games with a one hour break after the third game. Even though all ten of his games are in MS gyms and his last seven are running clock, it's still a huge amount of work.

Oh, did I mention that the guy is in his 60's!

BTW - I have a total of "only" five today. Big deal.

What's the most you've worked in one day? For me, it's seven, I think - and that was many years ago.

Mine was also many years ago. 10 games in a men's independent tourney fund raiser. Started at 8 or 9 in the morning. 5 minutes between games, 5 minute halftimes, 30 minutes at noon. The rest of the time we were playing basketball. Finished about 10 or 10:30, I think. I had agreed to do it for $50, but they were so proud of me they gave me $80.

10 games is a busy week for me. Although I just looked, and starting tomorrow, I have 11 games over 6 days. Then six days off for uncle Sam and the state of Colorado, then back at it.

It's so good to be back on the court this year.

What Mark isn't revealing is that when he does this many games they set up a rotating bar stool in the center jump circle and he just sits there spinning around all game calling everything from a deep trail center court position. That way he can do as many games as he wants and leave the place with a handsome check feeling fresh as a 60 year old volleyball official.
It's tough being his partner, though. Having to cover endline to endline every change of possession.

More power to him if he can do it!

I did one last night and four today.....boy, am I out of shape!

I have three more tomorrow.........

Most in one day is probably 5 or 6......no more though, as I am just not as sharp or quick at the end. In my mind, if I can't do what I consider my best, I just don't sign up.

I did 6 once about 18 months ago. 5 is pushing the limit unless a couple of them are 8-10 year olds. 4 is the standard.

Yep, the younger kids in an elementary or middle school gym are more conducive to doing more games. HS gyms are killer - especially two-person.

In college working Intramurals, I worked a 10 game day outside in the South Florida "winter" a couple of times in my years there. The daytime temps would be in the 70s/low 80s in the afternoon for these games. All of these are 2-whistle games, 20 minute halves running except last 2 of 2nd half.

For basketball:

Four 8-min quarter, normal timing rules games for an 8th grade tournament last year. I'm never scheduling something like that again.
