How about this one? Good or not? Peace |
Ball doesn't appear to have left the shooter's hand when the buzzer sounded. C was right there and got it right, IMHO.
|
It was incredibly close but I think the ball was not yet completely out of his hands when the buzzer started to go off. IMO, the official made the correct call.
|
Shot was not released in time. Good call.
|
Waved it off immediately, too. Nice work, C.
|
and kudos to the coaches and players for the way they handled themselves!
|
Officials did a good job of getting off the court quickly, too. :)
|
Definitely not released before the buzzer.....good call.
|
No basket... looks like a good call.

Loved the announcers spending two minutes after the game talking about how the officials missed it. They probably still think so.

I was in the shower and couldn't help myself. I stuck my head out and said, "Maybe that'll teach you to get the hell off the floor when the horn goes off." My partners laughed and I realized that maybe, just maybe, I was a bit over the top with my tone. |

Good call, no basket.
|
Gosh, watched it 5 times and still can't tell.
Great job by calling C. Although, appears to wave it off after ball is released, and for the sake of appearance, might be questioned. I don't think it could be any closer. |

Good job by the C. It's close but he got it right. The announcers are comical. "He gets away with a cary..........Oh that definitely went in.......the officials were wrong and we were right....." Always easy to officiate from the top of the stands. (Which at least they did admit, somewhat). They said they were going to review the film and post it on their website. Anyone have a link? |

Good call. You can pause the video and then play it and the ball is still in his hands and you can hear the horn going off.
The announcers are a couple of chuckleheads. |

I managed to do that too. Paused at 12 seconds. I had heard the beginnings of the horn, and the ball starting to come out of his hands, but still in contact with the hands. |
Carry anyone?
Did anyone else have a carry? At first I couldn't tell who the commentators were cheering for, it became fairly obvious.
The C did a great job as everyone else said, on first viewing I thought it was in his hand. But glad I had the replay button cause I wasn't 100% like the C was. |
Good call and a great job selling it.
I don't work 3-man....can someone take me through that crew's coverage for the end of game situation we saw in the video? |
It's the game that keeps you young at heart!! Si o no??

NCAAW -- C has the last shot (I prefer this). All -- all officials should have an opinion. |

Maybe he was (along with the C), but you can't see the trail at that point in the video. Could the crew in their pre-game, discussed using the NCAAW coverage for a last second shot? |
Quote:
I've never worked the NCAAW mechanic in a high school game and would never dream of doing so. Personally, I like the NFHS mechanic better. It's only when I work with NCAAW officials do I get into a prolonged discussion of whether we need to "lock down." The NFHS mechanic allows the lead to initiate rotations whenever he/she wants (up through the final horn) and the rotation does NOT change the last shot responsibility unless the ball goes the other way. |
I'm in the minority...
...but I have a made basket.

It seemed the buzzer started when the shooter's arms were going back before he pushed he ball forward....not really as close as it seems. |
No basket. TOUGH CALL. I bet none of us would have been surprised had he counted it.
Did the trail fall into a hole in the back court? |
No basket. Didn't even have to replay it to see/hear that.
Good, decisive call by the C. I have no problem at all with the announcers. They were entertaining and not obnoxious. |

And I agree -- it's easy when you watch it over and over or stop it, but real-time that's a nutcutter and he nailed it. |
Quote:
When I played it several times today, and the first time tonight, I played it in real time, it looked like the player beat the buzzer. In subesequent real-time plays, his shot is after the buzzer. I guess the buffering on my machine made it look different. |
