Inadvertant whistles

On average, how many inadvertant whistles do you have per year?

(I typically have zero or one, but I've had two so far this year, and we haven't even reached January yet.)

On average? None.

No more than 2. Usually, Zero. I have far more of the "oh brother that wasn't much contact why did I blow my whistle for a foul" type of occurrence.

I've never had an IW. If I blow my whistle and have nothing, I just say "my time," and bend over and act like I'm tying my shoes.

Chicken. Be a man and own up to it.

Never.....
But IF it did happen, I would calmly pick up the fictitious trash off the floor, put it in my pocket, and quickly put the ball back in play.

Ooh that's a good one. I'm going to use that just to mix it up a bit.

5 years reffing = 2 IW's

I don't think that's too bad. However, for tackle football:

1 year reffing = 1 IW

I hope that trend doesn't continue!

You know what they say. There are two kinds of officials, those who had an IW and those who will have an IW.

Or...

There are two kinds of officials, those who had an IW and those lie about it.

My career average is ~ 0.1 per year. I haven't one in years.

I used to do this during "garbage time" to get some "benchwarmers" in at the end of the game, with the clock winding down. A few years ago, a veteran official told me get rid of the theatrics and to just sound my whistle and get them into the game.

Many decades ago, on many occassions, that was me kneeling in the front of the table, anxiously waiting to get into the game, to only have the clock run down without me getting in the game.
