Game from hell

I did a middle school girls game and a rugby match broke out. Both teams full court pressing, and both going 100 MPH when they had no business doing so. Constant reaching, hacking, bumping, traveling. The first half took FOREVER. Both teams ended the first half in double bonus. We kept telling them to stop reaching, but kept calling the obvious fouls. That's about all you can do right? Is it acceptable to talk to the coaches to clean it up?

side note: one of the coaches was all over me because I didn't call a bump that he thought was a foul, and in truth it probably was a foul, but in this game it was incidental (if you know what I mean). To make it worse it was a 20 point blowout.

Totally brutal game.

Not quite sure what you would say to a coach in this circumstance. It's just one of those games, that is ugly from start to finish. Luckily enough, these seem fairly rare.

As far as the coach arguing for any one particular foul call in a game like that, maybe just a quick acknowledgement but no need to reply.

I, for one, don't know what you mean.

I know what he means, but I don't agree with it. A foul is a foul, first quarter or fourth quarter, 1 or 100 point game.

I think he means in comparison.

I think I have the kicker of the group-keep in mind this was a varsity tournament game everyone!

My school hosted a Varsity girls tournament during the first week (here 11/29-12/1).Game 2 of the second day is a semi-final to decide who will play for fifth place. In this game we had 47 fouls and approximately 20 held-ball situations (I believe the tally was 17).We also had 1 player technical, each team received a delay of game warning for breaking the plane on an inbounds play, and another technical foul for breaking the plane after being warned. The coaches combined to use 7/10 possible time-outs and their teams combined to shoot 15/61 from the free-throw line.Your final score was 30-27 and the second half took about 1 hr 45 minutes

I thought it would be fun to go up and down the floor at least once without calling a foul. :)

We've all had those games. I recall one just like the OP's about five years ago (MS girls, 50+ fouls, etc.). I also remember ones where my partner and I called three fouls all game.

We all get both ends of the bell-shaped curve. In the end, they make us stronger. Just move on to the next game.
