Faking
While A1's free-throw attempt is in flight toward the basket, A2 in a marked lane space fakes by rocking back and forth, however, no opponent or teammate enters the lane prematurely. What is your ruling?

I've got nothing. 9-3-b. The fake must cause an opponent to violation.

Stupid Monkey, opps, I Mean Stupid Rule.
NFHS Rules only with regard to my post.
This rule is even stupider than that Abomination Upon the Game (Alternating Possession) or the out-stretched arms signal when one does not have a Closely Guarded Situation (If I ain't counting it means I do NOT have a CGS). But I digress. Every player knows that he can not enter the free throw lane until the ball touches the basket ring or the backboard. That means the player should be watching the ball and not watching his opponent next to him and if he is stupid enough to fall for a fake he deserves to be called for entering the lane to soon. That said, to be honest, I can not remember that last time I saw a player try to fake his opponent into the free throw lane early. MTD, Sr. |
