Last Second shot
At a varsity game the other day I watched three very experience officials end the quarter with one tenth of a second on the clock ruling that there was no time for a shot. The ball would have been taken out just under the basket of a team on their offensive end. I am sure this is wrong and that you can tip it with under 3 tents but annot catch and shoot with udner 3 tenths. Where do I find this is the rule book?

Rule 5, Section 2
ART. 5 . . . When play is resumed with a throw-in or free throw and three tenths (.3) of a second or less remains on the clock, a player may not gain control of the ball and try for a field goal. In this situation only a tap could score. NOTE: This rule does not apply if the clock does not display tenths of a second. |
Thanks!
And these guys regularly do quarterfinals or higher games!
