Hi Everyone,
I'm a referee in Israel and I would like to know how you can start Refereeing in the States? Which leagues do you start refereeing in? Where can I get Information about it especially in New-York area. or any. who can I speak to about it.
How do you advance? how many games can you make in a month? is there a living of it? .......??

any information will be kindly accepted :-)

I'm sure Dan will answer all yoiur questions. However, I will tell you that no, you can't make a living at it. At least the 99% of us who don't officiate D-1 College or the NBA don't make a living at it. It's simply an avocation, not a vocation.

It's easy. Most of us start officiating in the NBA. All you have to do is go to David Stern's house and ring the bell. After he serves you lemonaide, he will offer you a contract. However, you have to have your own whistle.

You probably will get about 150 games your first year, including the playoff finals. Expect to make about $375,000 to start.
