New guy, confused.

Yup, I'm new need some clarification on a couple things.
1. Player control foul- foul commited by player dribbling the ball or in control of the ball.
2. Team control foul - foul commited by player not in control of the ball but on the team that has control. ie illegal screen
3. What type of foul would be called on defense, away from the ball. Just the normal foul type, push, hold etc..

I have read the book, but my brain is having problems filtering this information out of the very well written NFHS books.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

The underlined portion is redundant. :) Sorry, I couldn't help myself.:o

Just to make sure I have this:

1. A1 brings the ball down court, A2 and B2 are in the post and A2 is pushing B2 more than the normal bumps and jostles. Blow whistle, team control foul on A2.

2. A1 brings the ball down court, A2 and B2 are in the post and B2 is pushing A2 more than the normal bumps and jostles. Blow whistle, pushing foul call on B2.

Both of these non freethrow fouls, even if in bonus?

Incorrect.

No FTs in 1. -- it's a team control foul.

FTs (if in bonus) in 2. -- it's a foul by "the defense".

Kwatson,

You really need to get into Rule 4 definitions and look what these things mean. That is the only way IMO you will understand what to do as all of these terms are explained in detail if you look there first. Then go to your casebook and read the rulings and read the comments if there to explain what should be done or not. These are very basic situations which you should understand if you are looking at Rule 4.

Peace

Thanks JRutledge, not sure how I missed that.
