girls'/womens' 10-sec. BC?
In the waning moments of the Baylor-Tennessee NCAA-W broadcast pn ESPN, there was a mention of talks of adding the 10-sec. BC over the past couple of years.
Is this a good or bad idea?

It is...
The NCAAW has been experimenting with the 10 second count during scrimmages and preseason exhibition games (conference depending I believe). The rules committee will discuss further to decide if it should be implemented in regular season contests. |

If a team spends > 10 seconds in the BC, then they have little time to run an offense in the FC. That is (or has been) enough of a penalty (offense) / reward (defense).

Granted, the men's game has a 35-second shot clock, but I guess those rulemakers never bothered to change the backcourt rule. If it ain't broke...
